Most of you didn’t know I even had a Honda, I’d suspect. I don’t talk about it much.
Took about 15 minutes. One 12mm bolt, one snap ring, disassemble, and reverse.

Are Honda where it’s at? (I’ve got a 10yo $200 Craftsman that has been working fine, still starts first pull, but seems to be smoking a bit now...)

I’ll put it this way - this was was used and abused (well, more of neglect) for years by my mother and aunt, then given to me because “it doesn’t run right” (which is how most everything small-engine is). The issue was that the throttle would vibrate down; a zip tie fixed that. I also sharpened the blade. Zero issues since (until I didn’t notice the adjuster fell down and I broke it off - see above).
End of last year I put stabilizer in it, closed the fuel valve, and let it run dry. This spring, I kid you not, it started on the first pull. It always starts on the first pull (with choke). The oil is almost 2 years old, and this gets heavy use - it’s still amber. I am very impressed with what’s really a bottom-tier piece of equipment.

Also pretty much describes the original Civic. Great cars to work on.

Yes Honda lawn mowers are the shit. My mom has one that is ‘gulp’ 25 years old and it’s still running strong I think it’s been rebuilt once.

I have a Honda mower as well. (Surprise surprise.) I think it’s great.

Wow, parts you can order! I have an older Craftsman I bought used probably 15 years ago, still runs great, first pull start no matter how long it’s been sitting. I broke the top part of the handle, as well as a rear wheel last year. I almost thought I’d have to put it out to pasture, as I couldn’t find replacement parts that wouldn’t set me back $50 - $75. I paid $80 or so when i bought it. Finally found a mower center just north of Toledo that sold used mowers, and the guy essentially stripped some parts off an old mower and sold them to me for $25.

I have an older craftsman belt sander which is borderline useless because of missing and unobtainable parts, so I know what you mean. (Also a speedex lawn tractor from the early 80's)

My mom has a honda
It hasn’t run properly before she was born. It’s cause my dad won’t let me fix it. He wants to do it himself, but he never has time.
